Lautrec’s Brasserie on Kieran Street is the perfect location for intimate dinners, small private parties and for all who seek an interesting meal from a good mix of food which is reasonably priced and can be enjoyed amid great atmosphere in secluded and intimate surroundings. From Pallete to Palate ….. With the business named after Toulouse-Lautrec, copies of the famous french painter’s work are an integral part of the décor and the interior colour scheme of terracotta and cream are strongly influenced by the South France region. The interior is greatly enhanced by the unearthing of the original stone floor and old stone walls which give an almost rustic feel to the building and provide an enchanting atmospheric setting. While the premises entices you in however, what will keep you there and keep luring you back is the food. The varied menu, which is constantly reviewed, is a continental/mediterranian mix with everything from pizza to pasta, hereford Irish beef steaks, fresh seafood and ever changing weekly specials. Meat and vegetables are sourced locally and most importantly, everything is cooked to order. The range of delectable deserts changes often but a constant choice is the house made ‘Ballylarkin ice-cream’ which utilises Kilkenny’s own Ballylarkin liquer. Meanwhile the full bar boasts a wine cellar which offers a wide selection of wines, with the main focus on new world wines sourced from small prestigious wine companies. Our sister restaurant…….
