Inistioge Summer Festival 2012

FAMILY FESTIVAL IN A MAGICAL LOCATION THIS JUNE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND (Saturday 2nd June - Sunday 3rd June, 2012)

Avatar and Viking Drink in the joys and beauty of the season at the Inistioge Summer Festival this June Bank Holiday weekend. Located between Thomastown and New Ross this stunning village is set in the heart of the beautiful Nore Valley. Now in its fourth year this very popular festival continues to be about traditional fun and games for all the family. There are pony rides, lost skills demonstrations, circus performers, dog shows, vintage cars, busking corner and many more activities.

On Saturday 2nd June at 5pm the festival kicks off with a special family 3k run with prizes for the fastest buggy, egg and spoon and funniest hat. On Sunday 3rd, the GAA pitch will be transformed into one big playground with a packed programme of events including traditional games from 1 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Kids and adults alike will be wowed by fire juggling, stilt walking, live music etc. The kids games include FREE supervised bouncy castle, FREE circus workshop, pony rides, body zorbs, stocks, face painting and much more. Plus for animal enthusiasts this year’s festival again includes a Dog Show.

To recharge the batteries, after all that entertainment, there are plenty of drinks and food stalls to whet the appetite.  Catering for every budget, they include a summer BBQ, a marquee serving teas, coffees and locally produced homemade treats along with many gourmet food and dessert stalls. In the craft and farmers market there will be a wide range of handmade crafts and gifts, childrens’ toys and a variety of organic local produce to purchase.

On Sunday evening, to wind down, Fourpenny Rock and Hatchery Folk will be giving a FREE open air concert in the Millennium Garden in the heart of Inistioge village.

Entrance is FREE for children and €5 for adults.

Speaking at the official festival launch Fiona Macrae. an organising member of the festival committee, expressed her delight at introducing the extended and enhanced 2012 festival: “The theme revolves around traditional outdoor entertainment for the family in an unrivalled magical location.
